THE SIGN OF PEACE
The Sign of Peace during the Mass is rooted in a scriptural passage in which the Lord advises the Church not to come to the altar until we have reconciled with our brother.
The idea behind the sign of peace is that we extend -symbolically- a gesture of reconciliation before we approach the Lord hidden in bread and wine.
Since the Covid pandemic, there are many in the church who are uncomfortable, shaking hands. The fear of transmitting germs has not gone away. At the same time, there are some who feel that the sign of peace is an intrusion into their prayer. Thus, there are some who report that they feel rebuffed when they try to exchange the sign of peace with the people sitting around them during the Mass.
Please remember that there are a number of ways to exchange the sign of peace. Shaking hands is but one of them. You could smile at your neighbor and say peace be with you. A slight wave of the hand and a smile. The important thing here is to acknowledge that you are not alone at the Mass and that you and I are meant to be in communion with the people around us.

Do you have just one hour a month to give? That’s all it takes to make a meaningful impact in our parish community. Most of the officer roles have been filled, but we are still in need of a President and an ACCW Representative.
• President: Helps shape the monthly agenda and leads our meetings with joy and purpose.
• ACCW Representative: Serves as a liaison to the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, attending quarterly meetings and sharing updates with our group.

Summer 48 Hours of Adoration
June 2-4
Begins Monday after 5:30 Mass and ends Wednesday at Benediction
Pray for Pope Leo XIV and the Church during our 48 hours of Adoration. At least two adorers are needed for each hour. A minimum of 2 persons are required for each hour. There will be security posted during the night hours.
